The Global Investor Program is an initiative spearheaded by Singapore Economic Development Board to bring about more direct foreign investment into Singapore. Singapore is only second to Switzerland in private wealth management, and it also ranks No. 2 in protecting investors by the World Bank Group for 2009 and 2010. Investors seeking to invest in Asia can have the assurance of the security and confidentiality of their investments in Singapore.
Under the GIP scheme, investors can choose to invest in numerous industries such as environmental technology, biomedical sciences, education, engineering and information communications and media. Besides proof of sufficient investment capital, GIP applicants must also demonstrate a good record of entrepreneurial ventures.
