Dependant Privileges for Work Pass Holders

update of dependant privileges for work pass holders

Minimum salary threshold to qualify for Dependant’s Pass privileges

If you are the main pass holder, this will enable you to keep dependants in Singapore. Dependant privileges allow family members to stay with foreign professionals while they work in Singapore.

Your eligibility as a work pass holder for dependant privileges will depend on your economic contribution and ability to provide for dependants in Singapore.

The requirements are as follows:

  • Possess an Employment Pass or S Pass.
  • Work pass holders need to meet a minimum fixed monthly salary of $6,000 to bring in their spouse/children (on dependant visa)
  • Work pass holders need to meet a minimum fixed monthly salary of $12,000 to bring in their parents (on long term visa)
  • Receive sponsorship from a recognised, Singapore-registered company, typically your employer.

  • Legally married spouse.
  • Unmarried children under 21 years old, including legally adopted children.
  • In cases where your family members do not meet the eligibility requirements for a Dependant’s Pass, they might be eligible for a Long-Term Visit Pass.

As a dependent of an S Pass or Employment Pass holder, you have the option to apply for any of the following passes to seek employment in Singapore:

  • Employment Pass: This work visa is granted to foreigners in managerial, executive, or professional roles, allowing them to work in Singapore for a specified period. Typically, this pass is applicable to positions at the managerial level and above.
  • S Pass: Designed for mid-level skilled professionals like finance or marketing executives, the S Pass is a work visa that individuals in these roles can apply for.
  • Work Permit: A basic visa that employers may issue to employees with fundamental skills in specific industries in demand. This includes jobs in construction or other blue-collar sectors.
