Work Visa Options for Dependant’s Pass Holders

Working as a Dependant’s Pass (DP) Holder

The Dependant’s Pass allows spouses of Employment Pass or S Pass holders to join them in Singapore for a duration of up to 2 years. DP Holders are currently able to seek employment under the following 3 options:

Employment Pass (EP)

This is applicable if you:

  • Have a job offer in Singapore.
  • Work in a managerial, executive or specialised job.
  • Earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $5,000 (older, more experienced candidates need higher salaries).
  • Have acceptable qualifications, usually a good university degree, professional qualifications or specialised skills.

S-Pass

This is applicable if you:

  • Earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $3,150. The salary should reflect work experience. Older, more experienced applicants need higher salaries to qualify.
  • Have a degree or diploma. Technical certificates such as courses for qualified technicians or specialists equal to at least 1-year full-time study may be considered.
  • Have relevant work experience

*A quota and levy (paid by the employer) apply for S Pass applications.

S-Pass Quota

Sector W.E.F 1st January 2023
Manufacturing 15% of total workforce
Services 10% of total workforce
Construction/ Marine Shipyard/Process 15% of total workforce

Work Permit (WP) Under Spouse Scheme

This is applicable if you:

  • Seek employment mainly in the services sector
  • Earn $2,000 or below.
  • Special Exceptions for Spouses: As a DP Holder, you are exempt from the several Work Permit clauses such as the eligible nationalities clause, pregnancy and local child delivery clauses. You are only subject to the foreign employee quota and levy.

Updates to Letter of Consent (LOC) 2021

Individuals holding a Dependant’s Pass (DP) seeking to engage in business activities in Singapore can submit an application for a Letter of Consent (LOC). To be eligible to apply for an LOC, you need to be one of the following types of business owners:

  • The sole proprietor of an ACRA-registered business.
  • A partner of an ACRA-registered business.
  • A company director with at least 30% shareholding in an ACRA-registered business.
