Number of Directors
The minimum number of directors required to incorporate a company in Singapore is one. Maximum number of directors is normally denoted in the articles of a company.
Age and other Requirements
The minimum age to be appointed as a company director is 18. There is no maximum age in a private company. In a public company or a subsidiary of a public company, however, the maximum age is 70. The director can be reappointed during the company’s Annual General Meeting (AGM).
In addition to the age requirement, a director must be physically and mentally capable of carrying out his duties.
Local Resident Director
There has to be at least one local resident director in the company. Local resident directors are Singapore Citizens, Singapore Permanent Residents, an EntrePass holder or Employment Pass holder issued with such a pass to work in the company concerned and who has a local residential address.
